Phases of the Pool Construction Process

When it comes to building your swimming pool, Presidential Pools, Spas & Patio is dedicated to excellence and quality. The following is an overview of the process we go through to build your new custom in-ground pool. There are many steps, but that is exactly why you want an experienced, professional team to build your pool.

To the best of our estimations, our current timeframes for the construction process are below:

·      Once permits are submitted, the time frame will vary depending on jurisdictions

·      Once excavated, the current timeframe from construction to interior finish is  8-12 weeks depending on scope of work

Construction Phases

PHASE ONE: PRE-PROCESSING

Your plan is checked. Engineering and pre-site is ordered.

PHASE TWO: PERMITTING

Your permit is prepared and submitted. Permit processing time varies by city.

PHASE THREE: CAD

Your plan is entered into a Computer Aided Design program. This program will produce all the data needed by the construction crew.

As a side note, any design changes after this point that require changes in the CAD program may delay pool construction and may also require re-permitting.

PHASE FOUR: FINAL PROCESSING

The remainder of file is processed and the plan goes through final detail. The pre-grade is ordered if landscaping or other objects need to be removed from the pool and deck areas.

PHASE FIVE: LAYOUT

The painted layout of the pool (and spa, if included) is completed on your property.

PHASE SIX: EXCAVATION

Things are about to get a bit dirty! At this point, the form boards are installed, the excavator arrives and begins dirt removal.

PHASE SEVEN: EQUIPMENT & PLUMBING

Your pool equipment and plumping are installed.

PHASE EIGHT: STEEL

Steel reinforced rebar is placed throughout the pool structure and spacers are installed.

PHASE NINE: ELECTRIC

The electric wiring is installed with all the necessary grounding to meet or exceed required standards.

PHASE TEN: PRE-GUNITE INSPECTION

A city inspection is scheduled before advancing to the next phase.

PHASE ELEVEN: SHOTCRETE

Pneumatically applied concrete is installed to form the pool shell. Water curing is done by the homeowner from the existing patio.

PHASE TWELVE: WATERFALL AND BOULDERS

Any water features and/or boulders are now installed!

PHASE THIRTEEN: DECKING/PAVERS

Forms for decking and/or pavers are installed.

PHASE FOURTEEN: TILE

Waterline tile is installed.

PHASE FIFTEEN: CLEAN UP

Things have been dusty for a while. At this point, we finally remove all the debris!

PHASE SIXTEEN: FENCING

The access fence is now replaced.

PHASE SEVENTEEN: ACRYLIC (IF APPLICABLE)

If applicable in your design, acrylic material is applied on the decking. You will need to allow 24 hours for it to cure.

PHASE EIGHTEEN: PRE-PLASTER INSPECTION

City inspection occurs to ensure all barrier requirements have been completed. You, as the homeowner, will need to be present for this.

PHASE NINETEEN: INTERIOR FINISH

Your interior finish is installed and the pool begins to fill with water. Some interiors require an acid wash the day before filling.

PHASE TWENTY: MECHANICAL START-UP

A start-up technician starts up all equipment, installs the suction cleaner (if applicable) and adds necessary chemicals.

PHASE TWENTY-ONE: ORIENTATION

You will receive a tour and instructions to properly operate and maintain your new Presidential Pool!
