Corey Barnes

Pool Designer

Hi, I’m Corey Barnes, a Custom Pool Designer with Presidential Pools. Originally from Central California, I’ve called Arizona home for over 10 years and have no plans of ever leaving. My career in the pool industry began in 2021, driven by a desire to work in a field that brings both excitement and pride. As the saying goes, if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life, and I’m proud to say I’ve found that here at Presidential Pools.

Before becoming a designer, I gained valuable experience on the construction side of the business, where I was quickly promoted into one of the most challenging build zones in the Valley and later advanced to Construction Manager. Learning to build everything we sell before designing it has proven invaluable as a complement to my design and sales expertise. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found my true professional passion and am deeply grateful to the entire Presidential Pools family for welcoming me with open arms.

When I’m not designing pools or measuring yards, I spend most of my time with my wife and our two young daughters. A self-proclaimed sports junkie, I’ve been an avid golfer since the age of nine and enjoy following just about every sport.

  • What’s a design element or feature you believe every great pool should have?
Every “Great” pool should have abundant lighting. Lighting is often an undervalued aspect of pool design. The same is true for landscaping. You can dramatically increase the wow factor of your yard by spending a little extra time and money making sure your pool/yard is perfectly lit.
  • If you had to describe your design style in three words, what would they be?

FORM AND FUNCTION – Todays home building trend seems to be putting larger houses on smaller lots which can limit the ability to be ultra-creative, so I want to make sure whatever we do build is going to be built to last, function simplistically, and present beautifully.

  • How do you approach a design for a difficult or unusually shaped backyard?
When presented with an opportunity to design in a unique or challenging environment, I first visit the property and try to envision every step of the construction process. Having spent several years on the construction side of our business, that knowledge and experience allows me to work step by step, phase by phase through the build prior to actually designing the pool. I find this helps me properly set my clients expectations for what can be built and function properly.
