HOW TO GET INTO HEALTHY POOL HABITS IN 2017

A backyard pool lets you improve personal health from your own home! But like any activity that requires discipline, you have to build up a habit to make it part of your routine. We put together some tips to help take strides toward a healthier 2017!

SET A CONSISTENT WEEKLY SCHEDULE

It’s possible to get overwhelmed when you first start to exercise. Early on, sticking to a consistent, easy to handle habit may be your best bet for sustained success. Plan out what days and times you will exercise each week. That way you can anticipate when to hit the pool and create habits toward success!

DO THE EXERCISES WITH ANOTHER PERSON

Exercising in the pool can be more fun with a buddy. Most of the aquatic fitness practices we recommend benefit from having a partner. That way each of you can watch of the other one to improve and critique technique. Plus, having someone that you workout with creates accountability. It’s easy to skip a workout alone. Only you are affected. But if a friend wakes up expecting to workout in the pool, it will be tougher to skip the exercise and turn them down.

ONLY DO THE WORKOUTS YOU ENJOY

Like we mentioned earlier, starting a new healthy exercise program can be pretty difficult. Trying to complete workouts that you don’t actually like doing benefits no one. There are numerous pool workouts to choose from. Experiment different ones when you first start so you can narrow down to what you like doing.

MAKE A WORKOUT LOG AND TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

One of the best ways to stay motivated to workout is by keeping a record of what you have already completed. You can also measure what exercises worked best.  Keep track of weight loss over time to build momentum and make 2017 a year committed to health!
