3 TRICKS TO BUILDING A POOL WITHOUT CLUTTERING YOUR BACKYARD

Swimming pools naturally take up space. And when you add in fencing, pumps, lounge chairs, and more, a backyard could easily get cluttered. But there are several tricks your designer can employ in designing your backyard to ensure your end result matches the intended design.

Here are three tricks a qualified designer will employ:

1. Design everything around the intended focal point of your backyard.

A backyard in which the pool is the intended focal point will use a different design than one that intends to draw the eye towards a mountain view. Once your designer knows your desired focal point, they can design the yard so that that point is uncluttered, and any necessary equipment is hidden in the periphery.

2. Limit yourself.

As with most things, adding too much variation can lead to chaos. You should limit the number of decking materials you use, and make sure they don’t clash with your home. Your landscaping should blend and complement, which means limiting colors, heights and groupings of plants.

3. Camouflage.

In designing your yard, think through where necessary equipment and accessories will go. There are many creatively hidden, but accessible ways to build access to your pool pump and control panel. If you have children, expect to have rafts, noodles and other pool toys, which means you should also have somewhere to store them.
